Friday Finds

This has been one of those busy weeks... you know, the kind where your alarm goes off in the morning and you don't realize what day it is. I was convinced it was Saturday on Wednesday. Our week was full of fun things. We enjoyed dinner with friends on Wednesday (7 little girls ages six and under with 3 wonderful couples). It was good for the soul. We also had Sinclair's school fall festival Thursday night. I love watching our kids do life with other people. Our girls were on cloud nine (most of the time) and in the pit of despair at other times. Sigh. Women. We are straight crazy. Maybe you are reading this Friday night after surviving the week or Saturday morning with your favorite coffee. I hope you enjoy. I have a new thing for arrows

Continuing my obsession for arrows here, but I want this and this

My friend introduced me to this Instagram account. I LOVE every single one of her drawings. You will too.

What would a Friday Finds post be without Jimmy Fallon. I had a creative block on Tuesday. So naturally I turned to twitter which then lead me to Jimmy Fallon. Then I got completely lost in watching different YouTube Jimmy Fallon videos. I highly suggest the rabbit trail. Check out this one

One blogger that I enjoy is The Nester. I seriously want her book for Christmas (hint hint) (Not sure who I'm hinting at since my hubs doesn't read this) Anyhoo, I think you will enjoy her 31 days of writing about vignettes.

This post titled "what I miss and don't miss about working"

I would like a set of these for my front porch. Remember how I said it is lacking? I added a white pumpkin and potted plant but we are a long way from looking compete (still slightly pathetic).

My friend (and co-worker), Kathy wrote about never entering a parent/teacher conference empty handed. Good advice!

You guys, life just got sweeter. Did you hear the news? My world is complete.

Friday Finds

Happy Friday, ya'll! We woke up to a rainy morning here which turned out to be perfect. After dropping off Rory at preschool, I decided to do something I never, ever do. I played hooky. Seriously though. I never even played hooky in high school or college. I cancelled my chiropractor appointment because something "came up" and went home. I made a pumpkin chai tea latte and watched the Gilmore Girls. It was good for the soul. Sometimes it's just good to stop. There was nothing pressing for me to do. Nothing I needed to accomplish. But maybe you are like me and suffer a little mom guilt if you ever stop and do something like that. It's like I worry that someone will bust me sitting on the sofa at 9:00am doing nothing. I fear that people will assume that I am good for nothing. Let's all agree to not worry about that. Overachievers, let's unite! Maybe that should be your assignment to complete before next Friday. Okay? Without further ado...

* I've mentioned my friend here before but I think you'll like her fall uniform. Isn't it funny how we tend to have uniforms? What's your go-to uniform?

* And speaking of style, I'm crushing on this and this

* If you read blogs or get sucked into Pinterest like I do, then you have probably seen lots of people talk about decorating for fall. I am seriously the worst seasonal/holiday decorator in the world. I currently have 3 pumpkins on my porch and that my friends is success. If you are a reluctant or slow seasonal decorator like me then you can be inspired here.

* I did pin this a couple of weeks ago to find motivation inspiration to decorate my porch. Again, 3 pumpkins reside on my porch steps. Sigh.

* And keeping with all things fall, one of my favorite blog people designed some custom fall clip art. If you are into that sort of thing, you will LOVE this.

* I fully plan on trying this recipe soon for a Two-Minute Pumpkin Pie!!

* I stumbled upon this fabulous wallpaper on Instagram today on my friend's page. You guys, this is so pretty. I would love to put it in a half bath! I have a friend who is buying a new home and looking for wallpaper. This will definitely be on my suggestion list.

* And lastly, my husband texted a picture of this t-shirt to me and asked if he should buy it for me. Um, confession. It's totally true.

Here I am trying to write this post while both girls are home after school on a Friday. What was I thinking? This picture was taken in-between meltdowns/fights. I'm on countdown until the Man comes home. I need reinforcements! Seriously, though, they were screaming at the top of their lungs at each other 30 seconds before this picture.

Love you guys! Have a fantastic weekend!

Friday Finds

This Friday, in Georgia, it's starting to feel slightly like fall. I have a serious fall itch right now. The evenings are cooler which would make for perfect entertaining except that the mosquitos still think they are welcome here. Please send them a memo. This Friday in particular follows our 9 year anniversary which happened on Wednesday. Pretty sure this has been my longest gig (all my jobs have classified me as a short-timer). Looking forward to the years that follow! Sweet babes in this pic...

As my Little pea lies in bed sick today, I will share some things that I've been drooling over looking at this week.

*first off, let's take a look at what I'm wanting for fall style. You'll see a common theme throughout these links: plaid, demin, animal print, military vest, gingham. I need a reason to update my wardrobe! Let's go shopping!

*i love looking at kitchens and lately my eye is drawn to anything with white, gray and black

*i've been searching for ideas to make a little office nook in our kitchen. I found this one from the FlowerPatch FarmGirl. You will love her. I promise. Start reading.

*my oldest as a way of choosing great friends--because all her friends come with amazing momma friends for me! One of them is Lesley. UBER talented. I want to try to make these pumpkin bars or simply insist she make them for me so that I can enjoy her beautiful home.

*i spend so much time thinking about my hair. Seriously. I hate drying my hair however I found these tips on pinterest this week. Gotta share!

*Jimmy Fallon does it again. This may be old news to you but when I saw this a couple of months ago, I laughed. out. loud. "I'm so fancy..."

Hope you have a fancy weekend!

Friday Finds

Is it just me or do these weeks seem to fly by? I swear it feels like I just wrote last week's Friday Finds. I don't know if its my age or the fact that I am a mom of some crazy human beings, but I seriously cannot remember one day from the next. Last weekend, we rearranged half of our small rental home. I'm gonna work on putting together a post about it. If you have checked out our Ocoee house tour then you have seen how big that house was (5oo0 sq ft), and we now live in a 1800 sq ft home. Definitely less space. We love it and feel it all the same time. Without further ado, here are my picks for this week.

* This was seriously the best news I heard all week. The Gilmore Girls will be streaming on Netflix starting Oct 1. We may need to get together, drink coffee and watch this. As you know, my Little is named Rory. Scott's uncle is named Rory and we love naming kids after family members but it was a total BONUS because we I love Gilmore Girls.

* Tuesday night, I had the fun opportunity to hang with some girls in Atlanta--a chance to feel more like a human being and less like a servant mom (mostly because I was out and about after 7:00pm. I always forget that people eat past 5:30!) We watched this documentary. Ya'll, I ate a hamburger with peanut butter on top. I love burgers and peanut butter but never imagined putting those things together.

* I think you may need some serious eye candy for your weekend. Sherry is one of my favorite designers and she is local. I have a feeling that how she is on her blog is how she is in person. I would seriously love to clone everything she designs and cram it in my house. Check this post out. Here's one pic to wet your appetite.

* I read this post last night... all about how you evaluate your values over your emotions. Good stuff.

* I started working again back in August so I drive almost an hour to work one day a week which could be annoying but I am in my car ALONE so all is right in the world. I listened to this message on fear (titled: Fear Must Fall). "Our giants diminish God's glory. We say Jesus isn't big enough to deal with my giant. His name is bigger than your giant." (Louie Giglio) He talks about the common fears we face: anxiety, worry, stress and terror. I highly recommend getting in your car alone, go for a walk or lock yourself in your closet with a notepad to listen.

* I'm gonna write a post about the different apps with use with our kids, but for now check out this one. A teacher friend recommended it for my girls.

Have fun this weekend!

Friday Finds

Here we are at the end of another week. Cheers to us as we survived! I'm sipping on my venti blonde misto from beloved Starbucks as I type this (actually writing on Saturday am because my Friday was crazy-town). My mom introduced me to this drink years ago and it is now a staple in my book. Its basically like a cheaper latte. You're welcome. Here are a few things that grabbed my interest this week.

Anyone else ready for fall attire?! I can hardly wait however I have been deliberating over the boots situation. My tall brown boots have nearly bit the dust so wondering whether to buy a new pair or buy a new ankle bootie. What are your thoughts? My style board is full of gingham and tiny bits of leopard print. Lately I've been admiring vests.  I'm loving this look. We have been daydreaming about renovating again. Heaven help us! I saw this pic on Pinterest and loved the oversized lantern over the kitchen table.

I love to read blogs and I have a few favs that almost always say something that I'm convinced they meant just for me. Hands Free Mama is one of those blogs. I've never met her but would love to drink coffee with her and glean advice. This post called Where Your People Are is so good. I need to make sure that my girls remember to just know where their people are when they feel scared. "Even if I am not with you, know for certain that I am waiting for you and praying for you."

You guys, I started my grain free, sugar free, I hate life diet this week. Honestly, it seemed easier than the first time I did this, but by Friday I. WAS. OVER. IT. Somehow I withstood temptation Friday night ... probably because I went to bed at 9:30. Here is my board full of recipes. Some may need to be tweaked to be fully compliant with my diet.

If you ended this week like I did where you felt like laying in fetal position in your closet and not coming out, then you NEED to watch this video. I absolutely love Jimmy Fallen. In fact, as of this moment, I'm adding him to the short life of people I want to meet (which includes George W. Bush and Bill Murray.) You will not be disappointed.

And lastly, since I started this post about coffee, I'll bookend it with coffee. Our favorite brand of coffee is Lion from Hawaii. I just love their branding.

There was a small local market in our last city that sold it but I have yet to find a place in Atlanta that sells it. We ran out yesterday hence why I'm drinking the misto this morning. You really should try some. Just come over one afternoon and I'll brew a pot in our Bunn. Makes a full pot of coffee in 3 minutes!! Glory, hallelujah!

Have a great weekend!
