Episode 32: Julie Martinez

Julie Martinez joins me for episode 32. She is a single mom whose been a missionary for 22 years. She is the Country Director for People For Care & Learning (pcl) in Cambodia which is an organization that does transformational development to give the poor a working chance while building bridges into their lives so that they can share the gospel.

In my book, Julie is a rock star. She has lived in 4 different countries, been chased by hippos and elephants, survived divorce, surviving as a single mom, and she fiercely loves people and Jesus. If I'm ever pulled over in a foreign country, then I want Julie by my side. When I picture her, I think of the Katy Perry song, Roar. She is a champion.

I don't know about you, but I was captivated by Julie. As she told her story, I found myself getting lost in her world--feeling what she must have felt. As I edited the show, tears flooded my eyes as she talked about surviving her divorce. That no matter what rough circumstance you find yourself in, you can't pretend that you aren't in a dark spot. Define your reality, but then ask God to create a new reality. You guys, if you follow me on social media, I mentioned how my daughter is struggling with fear and anxiety. It feels like a dark spot for us. God, would you create a new reality for her. God binds up the broken hearted. He delivers the fearful. He can create miracles. He shows up in the wilderness. I hope you were encouraged as much as I was.

I ask you guys each week to support the show--to leave a review on iTunes or share us with your friends. And I love how you show up for us. This week, I'd love for you to show up and support Julie. You can go to pcl.is and donate to support all the she is doing in Cambodia with the organization, PCL. Let's give her a big virtual high five and cheer her on--women doing great things to empower other people.
